The Train

The train called to him.

As it sped by, it seemed
   to invite his company.
It’s metal boxes and
   grinding wheels.
It had an origin
   and a destination.
There was substance
   to this locomotive, traveling
   a well worn path.
It stretched for miles
   but it traveled its
   journey in solitude.
He ached to be this train,
   on the tracks,
   headed to a destination
         he did not know.
